My Private Clients LOVE Practicing Yoga At Home!

As I’m sure many of you are aware, these days I mostly teach private yoga classes in Edinburgh and Midlothian.   The majority of my private yoga students want to build up to practicing yoga at home consistently, so they can do some yoga outside of our classes together.  This is definitely something I encourage.  In fact, I have written posts before on why a personal yoga self-practice is so important to me.  I also run workshops on this very subject too.  You can tell that it is something very close to my heart!

Creating a home yoga practice is a form of self-care, and a way to keep moving and practicing a moving meditation on your own.  I love empowering my students by harnessing their creativity in their home yoga practice.  Yoga is my main creative outlet – and I’m not the only one who feels like this.

How To start Practicing Yoga at Home

Of course, when you are first starting to practice yoga at home on your own, it can feel a little very overwhelming!  How do you know what poses to do? Or what sequence to do them in? This takes time (and continued practice), but it does come.  Trust me.

In the meantime, I offer resources and videos out to my private yoga clients.  This gives them something to work on independently, and builds up confidence and familiarity around poses.

Below, I have included a short video of on a simple, gentle yoga flow.  It is suitable for all levels (definitely including beginners), and it only takes 10 minutes.  Everybody has time for that! As always, if you have any injuries, suffer with any illness or have any concerns, make sure you check in with your doctor and/or a relevant medical professional before following this video.

This video is based on a modified version of Surya Namaskar C (Sun Salutation C).  This is such a yummy and chilled out way to get your body moving and feeling good.  You can repeat this flow as few or as many times as you like – maybe initially by replaying the video, and later by committing it to memory.

A Yoga Sequence to Help You Start Practicing Yoga at Home

Let me know what you think of these sun salutations – this short but oh-so-sweet yoga flow! I have a few spaces open for private yoga clients just now (in-person in Edinburgh, or online if you live elsewhere), so do get in touch if you want to learn more.

Love and light
